We are a collaboration of nonprofits, individuals and businesses dedicated to establishing a network of pollinator friendly properties in the Woodstock area.

We offer: 

  • Free events by experts on gardening with native plants as well as birds, bees, butterflies and invasive plants.
  • Local and national resources for making your yard and town more pollinator friendly.
  • Annual seed exchanges, garden visits and volunteer opportunities.

Woodstock NY Pollinator Pathway is a project of Woodstock Land Conservancy, The Catskill Center, Woodstock NY Transition, The Woodstock Environmental Commission and community members.

What is a Pollinator Pathway?
A Pollinator Pathway is a series of pollinator friendly areas that are spaced closely enough to create a corridor of habitat. By creating pollinator habitat in your yard and getting neighbors to do the same you can change the local ecosystem.

What are pollinators?
Wild bees, honey bees, butterflies, moths, beetles, flies and other insects, plus birds, bats, amphibians and small mammals

Why are we doing this?
Pollinator and bird populations are in serious decline.  Pollinators are critical to a healthy ecosystem, playing a vital role in the food web  for animals and humans.

Why are pollinators in decline?

  • Use of pesticides and herbicides
  • Loss of habitat
  • Spread of invasive plants
  • Climate change

Why native plants?
Native pollinators have adapted over evolutionary time to using native trees, shrubs, and wildflowers for food, shelter and breeding.

Be part of the Pollinator Pathway!

1. Create Pollinator Habitat
in Your Yard: 

  • Go pesticide free
  • Stop mowing some of your lawn and let wildflowers grow
  • Add native seeds and plants
  • Remove invasive plants
  • Leave the fall leaves for overwintering insects
  • Leave some bare ground and dead wood for nesting native bees

2.  Get on the Woodstock, NY Pollinator Pathway Map:

  • Add your property to the map
  • Order a 6″ sign to show your yard is on the pathway
  • Tell your friends and neighbors

3. Help Spread the Word!

  • Who else might want to get on the map? Share the information with other gardeners.
